Inspired by an image of a twisted spine uncovered as a fossil on an archeological dig. The title refers to the neural commands that once traveled along this creature's spine, and the blood-red splashes honor the life it once had.
Created as one of a set of three pieces for the "Tuxedo with a Twist" (black and white with a touch of red) exhibition which was to have been held in Spring of 2020, was postponed indefinitely (as so many things were that year), and finally took place in Fall of 2021. These three, like the other members Black and White collection, are composed from the pages of the Princeton Alumni Weekly. Impulse makes use of style elements from the magazine layout as well as clipping from articles and advertisements.
